Downtown City Tavern has been a fixture for locals since opening a little over a year ago. Not only is it a great place to go for drinks and to watch the game, but they’ve got a pretty extensive menu, too. While there aren’t too many vegan options on the menu, there are a few things that can easily be veganized, and they’re happy to help you modify a meal to exclude any animal products.
First off, let’s talk pizza. While they don’t offer vegan cheese, they do have a ton of veggie toppings and their dough is vegan. And the pizzas are wood-fired. Just a few of the toppings they offer are sweet pineapple, jalapeno, eggplant, spinach and artichokes. Yum!
The Curry Lime Lentil Soup is vegan and if you’re craving a salad, you can sub olive oil and balsamic vinegar in place of the cream-based salad dressings.
There is also an appetizer on the menu called Slipper Bread. It’s topped simply with roasted garlic, Saratoga olive oil, balsamic vinegar and sea salt.
